Tidings from the East

Happy New Year! Wait... did the Worshipful Master get confused on which Holiday comes next? The Christian liturgical year actually starts with the first Sunday in Advent and so to Waynedale’s Masonic year really begins in December when we elect our new Officers.
I hope to see many of you at those elections at our meeting on December 5th as we set our new leadership. I feel great optimism and anticipation for the things that will come to our lodge in 2019 through their new leadership and your support. I know you will also want to hear our petition reports on new potential brothers and to see VERY special 50 year and 25 year Awards for our two Brother Walbridges.
I know I will reflect more on the accomplishments of the year just passed over the next few weeks, but my spirits lifted again on this past Saturday. Brother SW Jake and Brother Tyler Christian really have stepped it up in the last two months to transition breakfast for next year. Many Brothers were on hand to lend support for Dallas and Don’s last breakfast. I doubt any Worshipful Master finishing his year in the East has had a bigger smile than Don did when the crew clapped following 16 years captaining the kitchen. The fellowship was so exciting to be a part of although there was not room for all of us.
We have been in the community spotlight several times in the last 18 months through the Waynedale News. I hope all of you had a chance to read the article on our breakfast (and the others on display in the lobby). For both the outgoing Worshipful Master and the Senior Warden, our greatest concern for the next year is continuing that turnout of workers at breakfast. I am so proud that we are keeping this tremendous lodge asset going. There will be signup sheets at our next stated meeting for the next several months and we just need any Brother who is able to take a turn shouldering the load. I know we will succeed because “We are Waynedale!”
